This is the favorite phrase of one of my colleagues (I presume it has to do with the fact that he has to get used to work a lot since he joined our institute). Since he does not lock the screen, we set up the following cool background for him to admire:
We used Google Translate to translate the English phrase my ass hurts into Arabic (he’s a native speaker by the way) which in the end looked like this:
الحمار يسىء الى بلادي
Once he realized what we did (usually, he works with maximized terminals, so it took him some while to find out the new wallpaper), he was looking quite confused. So we asked: „What does it say? Do you get it?“ And he was like: „No?! What do you mean?“ And I told him that it’s his favorite phrase, but he was more like: „What the heck? What does ‚the donkey hurts my country‘ mean?“ Well, what does it mean? 😀
Side note: get MT to work… quickly. The people need us.
Seems like the MT system hasn’t improved much since last year, when we accidentally translated some Arabian and Chinese gay story newsgroups, alt.sex.monsterdicks, etc.
